This is what I used to be so afraid of hearing from people. I would write all of my stories in fantasy worlds where all of the characters were ambiguously brown, and races were distinguished by height, or by hair or eye colors that don’t naturally occur at all. And I would work so hard at making sure none of it could be mistaken for Fantasy Counterpart Cultures… 

But yeah, now I’m actually trying to write something in the real world, with people of actual races… yeah.
