Hi! I'm Fiammetta Rey. I like anime, books, writing, history, and historically-inspired fashion (mostly Classic Lolita). I'm 21, and I live in NYC. Please enjoy my blog!
It would make me incredibly happy if anyone wants to talk to me, so please send me any messages you want to!

If ANYONE can read this, and still think she’s not a girl…I feel bad for you, son.

Supplemental content from the manga, itself.  And you can’t argue that it’s not meant to be taken as canon, because she also makes statements that can be confirmed in dialogue within the story (her love of red, the type of guys she prefers). To say that her comment about her gender, and wanting to transition, is not true, you would have to be able to explain the leap of logic required to say “well, PART of this discussion should be considered canon, but the other part shouldn’t.”  That’s not a leap you can rationalize.

So here we have Grell, in a canon source, stating that she feels she was born in the wrong body, and not only that, IS interested in changing it.  (Now, whether or not that’s possible for shinigami, whether or not traditional hormone therapy would even work on immortal not-quite-humans, that’s another thing entirely, but the point is, it’s something she wants to do, if she can.)  Combine this with the fact that she also states (in canon dialogue, in the manga) that she’s unhappy about not specifically being able to carry her own child, I just don’t know where the argument AGAINST her being a woman could possibly be.

She’s a pretty darn traditional girl, too.  Wants to get married, have babies with her husband, have nice things, come off as sweet, look pretty.  She’s a girly girl.  Let her be one.  Stop calling her by the wrong pronouns, stop insisting she’s “gay,” stop labeling Grell ships as “yaoi,” etc.

And most importantly, if you can’t even correctly gender a fictional character, please take a look at yourself and figure out the reason WHY, before you do it to a real, live person, too.

Thank you! This. All of this.

And also thank you for realizing the same thing I did about how human medical technology would probably not work on grim reapers…

I think the “Grell is a guy” faction’s statements aren’t intelligent enough to be called an argument… it’s just pure “het is ew” yaoi elitism. Also sexists who think that her being a woman means she’s not badass. Which is clearly also wrong.

((The images didn’t go through when I first reblogged it, so I tried to put them in and kind of failed… sorry))

I’m just… amazed, really, that it seems to be the biggest issue. It’s like people have to really figure him/her out so...

Agree with this. Since I’ve read this I have referred to Grell as “she” and I will continue to do so. But I don’t insist...
